Pre-orders for the iPhone 5 will begin at 12:01 a.m. PDT Friday on Apple’s website, the company told the Los Angeles Times.

That, of course, means East Coast folks will need to stay up until 3:01 a.m. if they want to buy their iPhone as soon as it’s available.

Sprint will also begin pre-selling the iPhone 5 on its website at the same time.
