Apple customers are unable to access its iTunes Store, App Store and other services, the company confirmed Wednesday.

The Cupertino, Calif., company updated its online status page to show that several services were still affected as of 8:45 a.m. Pacific time. The problem began around 2 a.m.

“Multiple Store Services -- all users are affected. Customers may be unable to make purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store,” the company wrote.

Update: Apple’s services appeared to be operating normally again by early Wednesday afternoon. The company blamed the earlier problem on an internal DNS error.
