Samsung going old school? Report says it’s making a flip phone
Good news if you miss flip phones: Samsung might be bringing them back.
The South Korean tech giant is reportedly developing a flip phone called the Galaxy Folder that would be capable of running the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
A report this week by South Korean website Daily Digital says the company will release the device in a matter of weeks. The Galaxy Folder reportedly will use an 800-by-480 pixel resolution screen and a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor.
Samsung has not confirmed the Galaxy Folder, but the tech giant is always willing to try out new technologies.
It was one of the first companies to start making phones with screens larger than 5 inches when it released the Galaxy Note in 2011, and earlier this year, it also announced the 6.3-inch screen Galaxy Mega smartphone.
In 2012, Samsung put the Android operating system on a point-and-shoot camera, and earlier this summer, it announced the Galaxy S 4 Zoom, a variant of its flagship device with an optical zoom lens that sticks out noticeably on its back.
