It’s quickly becoming a lost art: he handwritten, cursive letter. As schools shifted toward computers and iPads in recent years, teaching cursive handwriting has fallen out of fashion.

But, as L.A. Times columnist Patt Morrison writes, a new law will encourage kids to close their laptops and pick up their pens.
