‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ will take on Gen Z in Comedy Central revival

Comedy Central is bringing back MTV’s iconically crude animated comedy “Beavis and Butt-Head” for an additional two seasons through a sprawling deal with producer Mike Judge.
Judge, who created the Gen X-defining series about a duo of unfiltered teenage couch potatoes, will reimagine the irreverent series for a Gen Z audience. The Emmy winner will also create additional spinoffs and specials for the network as it doubles down on its adult animation offerings, the network said Wednesday.

The “Silicon Valley” and “King of the Hill” creator is set to write, produce and provide voices for both titular characters in the head-banging, face-palming satirical comedy.
“It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” Judge said in a statement.
“Beavis and Butt-Head were a defining voice of a generation, and we can’t wait to watch as they navigate the treacherous waters of a world light-years from their own,” added Comedy Central’s Chris McCarthy, president of Entertainment & Youth Group.
“Beavis and Butt-Head” aired on MTV for seven seasons between 1993 and 1997, during which its moronic, heavy-metal-loving leads provided social commentary — albeit crass and often rudimentary — on everything from music videos to social issues including teen obesity, workers’ rights and media trends.
Its most popular spinoff was “Daria,” which centered on the acerbic teen Daria Morgendorffer, who was a recurring character in Judge’s original series.
In 1996, the idiotic pair hit the road — and the big screen — in “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America” as they searched for their stolen TV.
The series had previously been revived for an eighth season in 2011.
