The Skinny: I’m Lance Armstrong’d out! I watched that interview online and on TV. He sure is cold. Friday’s stories include a preview of the weekend box office, an interview with new Tribune CEO Peter Liguori and all sorts of other fun stuff.

Daily Dose: No matter who plays in the Super Bowl, CBS will get huge ratings. So does who is facing whom make much of a difference? In terms of story lines it might. If the 49ers and Ravens make it, the Harbaugh brothers would be coaching against each other. If the Patriots make it, people will want to see if they can make up for their last two Super Bowl losses. While the Atlanta Falcons have the best record of the four teams competing to get into the Super Bowl, there isn’t a sexy story that goes along with them.

First day on the job. Former News Corp. and Discovery executive Peter Liguori has officially started as the new chief executive of Tribune Co., parent of the Los Angeles Times and my new big boss. In interviews with the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, Liguori talked about the promise of Tribune’s assets and some of the challenges the company faces in trying to thrive in the digital age.

Mama’s house. The horror movie “Mama,” whose cast features “Zero Dark Thirty” star Jessica Chastain, is expected to finish in first place this weekend at the box office. Also opening is “Broken City,” a thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe that looks like the kind of movie I might like. And then there is “The Last Stand” with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I’ll pass. Opening wide is “Silver Linings Playbook” about a guy who has to go to a mental institution because he’s an obsessed Philadelphia Eagles fan. OK, that’s not exactly right but it is pretty close. Box-office previews from the Los Angeles Times and Hollywood Reporter.

Back to work. Meredith Vieira, whose TV career includes stints as “60 Minutes” correspondent, “Today” and “The View” cohost and host of the game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” wants to add solo daytime talk show host to her resume. According to the New York Times, Vieira is in talks with NBC about launching a new show for the fall of 2014. Later this month, the TV industry will gather in Miami for its annual programming convention where her show will probably be pitched to station owners to guage interest.

Rushing out the door? Rush Limbaugh has been on WABC-AM radio in New York for years. But now his contract is up and Clear Channel, which distributes his show, is expected to move him to its own station there, according to the New York Post. Also probably jumping ship will be Sean Hannity.

Roll out the red carpet. Although next week’s second inauguration of President Obama will not be the same big news and social event that the 2009 swearing-in was, the broadcast and cable networks are still heading to the nation’s capital in force. Variety has a preview.
