Cheryl Hines, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are married

Cheryl Hines, an actress, and Robert Kennedy Jr., a Kennedy, tied the knot Saturday at the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port, Mass.

No Twitter or “sources said” celebrity magazine announcement for these two: Word came via the New York Times in its weddings and celebrations section (which notably did not cover the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West wedding, though it did kind of blog once about Kim’s wedding dress).

Celebrities among the 300 or so guests included Larry David, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kevin Nealon and Ed Begley Jr., Us Weekly reported. The couple announced their engagement in April.

Hines, 48, and Kennedy, 60, an environmental lawyer and activist, were introduced by David, who for eight seasons starred with Hines in the improvised HBO comedy series “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” He actually introduced them more than once, the NYT said, first in Banff, Alberta, and then Deer Valley, Utah, both times at ski resorts.
Sparks finally flew at a third meet-up, this time at a ski resort in Aspen, Colo., when, Kennedy said, he “was separated at the time, and Cheryl was still married.” He’d filed for divorce from second wife Mary in May 2010, and Hines filed papers for her own split in July of that year. The couple were first spotted as an apparent couple in 2011.

The relationship progressed “slowly at first and then all at once,” RFK Jr. told the New York Times.

In May 2012, Mary Richardson Kennedy -- the mother of four of Robert’s children -- hanged herself. Her divorce had not yet been finalized.

The groom, who counted President John F. Kennedy as an uncle, also has two children from his first marriage to Emily Black Kennedy. Hines has one child with first husband Paul Young, a businessman.

RFK Jr’s son Conor is the Kennedy who famously had a fling with Taylor Swift in the summer of 2012, when he was 18 and she was 22.

Ethel Kennedy, mother of the groom, is of course the widow of Robert F. “Bobby” Kennedy, who was assassinated in Los Angeles in 1968.
