Last year’s “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” was one of Machinima’s most well-received Youtube miniseries ever, and now it’s getting the band back together to tell the tale of another “Street Fighter” character, Charlie Nash, in “Street Fighter: Resurrection.”

Producers Jacqueline Quella and Mark Wooding, alongside director and writer Joey Ansah, who directed two highly thought of “Street Fighter” projects -- “Assassin’s Fist” and “Street Fighter: Legacy” -- know action well. Ansah, also an actor in “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Snow White and the Huntsman,” immersed himself in the “Street Fighter” universe, and despite this being a video game-based franchise, understands that it’s not just action that will drive the project -- or satisfy the fans.

“In the same way that Nolan took Batman back to the roots — it takes an hour before you even see the bat-suit — you have to get people hooked on fundamental characters and story development before it gets too fantastical and supernatural,” Ansah said in a previous interview.

In the new teaser, we’re introduced to Charlie Nash, played by Alain Moussi (“Suicide Squad,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Pacific Rim”). Once a soldier, Nash is linked with some of the game’s fan-favorite characters, Guile and Blanka. In the “Resurrection” setting, though, events are happening a decade after “Assassin’s Fist.” The long-presumed-dead Nash is back and is targeting legendary “Street Fighter” champions for mysterious reasons. It will be up to Ken and Ryu -- Mike Moh and Christian Howard, respectively -- to uncover his plan.

The five-episode, live-action miniseries actually sets up Capcom’s release of the new “Street Fighter V” video game. The game title releases on Feb. 16, 2016. “Resurrection” will be Machinima’s first series to air exclusively on go90 when it launches in March 2016.

More details on the cast and a premiere date for the Machinima series will be unveiled later.
