Pedestrians walk in front of the Wilshire Vermont Station, where a mixed-use, urban “village” developed above an underground stop on the Metro Red Line in Koreatown, just east of downtown Los Angeles. Two monumental murals invite pedestrian traffic into the courtyard; the buildings, which hold rental apartments, extend for a full block north and east from the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. The structure was designed by the international architecture firm Arquitectonica. (Genaro Molina /Los Angeles Times)
