ANNE HATHAWAY

“The Dark Knight Rises” (2012)

Christopher Nolan’s take on the Batman saga has made for thrilling filmmaking and boffo box office — but the legend has faltered in the past when Catwoman slinks in. Hathaway needs to tone down the sunny smile and get feline — fast.

“One Day” (2011)

David Nicholls’ book (and now screen adaptation) should get a pleasant feminine edge with Lone Scherfig (“An Education”) at the helm, while Hathaway plays half of a duo whose relationship spans the years … one day per year at a time.

“Rio” (2011) / “The Simpsons” (2009-10) / “Family Guy” (2010)

Wide smile, check. Bright eyes, double check. Hathaway’s already an animated character — but she was quite toon-ful on the Fox comedies and got solid training for her fine-feathered 3-D comedy “Rio.”

“Love and Other Drugs” (2010)

Audiences got whiplash from the raunchy, rambunctious comedy that took a sharp turn into melancholy, despite Hathaway’s strong chemistry with Viagra salesman Jake Gyllenhaal.

“Alice in Wonderland” (2010)

Prissy, privileged — Hathaway was the White Queen in spades in this Tim Burton adaptation. Big things for her just seem to be in the cards.

“Valentine’s Day” (2010)

Whether phone sex operator or receptionist, Hathaway clicked with costar Topher Grace, but both got lost amid the ensemble cast that helmer Garry Marshall tossed together.
