Joseph Gordon-Levitt blogs his frustration over GQ profile

Looks as if Joseph Gordon-Levitt has some cover-boy problems.

The “Dark Knight Rises” actor was selected for the August cover of men’s magazine GQ, and a part of the subsequent profile written about the star has made him uncomfortable -- specifically, a mention of his late brother, Dan.

Dan Gordon-Levitt died in October 2010, found unresponsive at his Hollywood home. The Amy Wallace-penned cover story on Joe mentions the loss, saying: “The elder Gordon-Levitt died of an alleged drug overdose in 2010. ‘It was an accident’ is all Joe will say about that.”

Joe took to his Tumblr blog to express frustrations with that language, claiming the writer indulged in gossip reports that surrounded his brother’s death and didn’t consult facts.

“I have a problem with what their article says about my brother. I’ll be honest, it really made me feel terrible,” he wrote.

“The ‘allegations’ to which she must be referring were made by a handful of gossip websites. They are factually incorrect according to the coroner’s office and the police department,” he elaborated, likely referring to a report that the initial cause of Dan’s death was an overdose.

“By the way, while I asked the writer not to dwell on how he died, I did say quite a bit about how he lived, and how much he means to me,” Gordon-Levitt added.

“My parents and I are disappointed with what the article chose to focus on regarding this sensitive subject.”

We’d say “focus” is a strong word, given the one-sentence couching the tragedy received in the story, but clearly it’s a personal subject. Then again, what’s the point of an in-depth magazine profile?
