Everyone agrees that Michael J. Fox is a charming, likeable guy, but his new comedy series "The Michael J. Fox Show" has struggled in the ratings and received less than glowing reviews. Still, the actor landed a Globe nomination for actor in a comedy series.

"Game of Thrones" is shot in four countries, making it the most international show on TV, yet that didn't seem to matter to the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. Ron Howard's Formula One racing movie, "Rush," has been mostly quiet in year-end awards talk, but it unexpectedly came zooming to the fore with a nomination for best motion picture, drama, and another for supporting actor Daniel Bruhl.

Director Jason Reitman's drama "Labor Day" hasn't been a player in most awards experts' ballots thus far, but Kate Winslet did manage to land a Globes nomination for her role as depressed single mother Adele. Winslet is a favorite with Globes voters, having been nominated nine times and won twice before.

"Mad Men" has been nominated for a total of 12 Golden Globe awards during its run, winning four. But this year, the AMC series was shut out of the nominations, without even a nod for star Jon Hamm.

Emma Thompson grabbed a best actress in a comedy or musical nomination for her role as "Mary Poppins" author P.L. Travers in "Saving Mr. Banks," but that was as far as the Globes recognition went for the film, which also stars Tom Hanks as Walt Disney.
