Jenni Rivera exhibition to open at Grammy Museum May 12

The life and career of Jenni Rivera, the bestselling banda and norteña singer and multi-platforming media personality who was killed last December in a plane crash, will be explored in the exhibition “Jenni Rivera, La Gran Señora,” opening May 12 at the Grammy Museum in downtown L.A.

The exhibition will examine Rivera’s legacy as the “Diva of Banda” who sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. Rivera also starred in her own reality TV series, “I Love Jenni,” on mun2, Telemundo’s bilingual, bicultural cable network.

“Jenni Rivera was, without a doubt, the female leader of the regional Mexican genre and a true musical superstar,” said Grammy Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli. “We’re honored to celebrate her not only as a talented musician with Southern Californian roots, but also a successful entrepreneur and respected philanthropist.”

Among the artifacts on display will be rare family photographs, some of Rivera’s stage costumes, her personal Bible, concert posters and video footage of the singer’s performances.

“It’s a great honor for me and my siblings Jacqie, Michael, Jenicka and Johnny to be able to share such sacred items of our mother with her fans, the ones that made her,” said Janney “Chiquis” Marin, Rivera’s daughter, in a statement released by the museum.
