Watch Snoopzilla debut on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Over the years Snoop Dogg has assumed so many monikers — Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop D-O Double G, Uncle Snoop, Snoop Lion, etc. — it shouldn’t be a surprise that his latest, Snoopzilla, has already proven confusing for late-show hosts.

“I don’t know what to call you anymore,” Jimmy Kimmel confessed during an interview with the rap legend on Monday night.

Snoop Dogg dropped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to chat about his affinity for marijuana, living life without guns and how he rang in his birthday on Sunday. (Hint: he celebrated the debut of his branded portable vaporizer.)

Naturally, his different personas had different projects to plug.

Snoop Lion has a coffee-table companion to the documentary he released earlier this year that explored his pilgrimage to Jamaica, where he immersed himself in the Rastafarian culture and birthed a reggae album.

And then there’s Snoopzilla, who made his television debut on Kimmel.

Last week Snoop announced his latest endeavor: a funk album with Dam-Funk, who has perfected a modernist take on the old-school flair of the genre.

The two — together they are billed 7 Days of Funk — debuted the breezy, Zapp-influenced single, “Faden Away” to an audience that came ready to spark up at Kimmel’s outdoor stage (a security guard jokingly likened the air over the crowd to that of a dead skunk) even if they had no idea he was birthing a new persona.

Snoop also debuted a new track, “Do My Thang,” which straddled the harder edge of classic Snoop with the bright, party vibe that carried the Lion’s reggae album.

Speaking of the D-O Double G, Snoop’s old persona wasn’t too far behind as he went on to tear through classics like “The Next Episode”, “Gin and Juice,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Who Am I? (What’s My Name?).”
