Robert Pattinson: Life in Pictures
Let’s take a look at some of his more memorable projects so far.
Starting in the late ‘90s, Pattinson (seen here in 2008) spent his tween and early teen years as a male model -- a gig that might have been made all the easier since his mom Clare worked for a modeling agency.
Pattinson’s acting career began with roles on British TV. His 2004 film debut -- in Reese Witherspoon’s costume drama “Vanity Fair” -- ended up on the cutting room floor, but can be seen on the DVD extras. (Spencer Weiner / Los Angeles Times)
Pattinson was romantically linked to his “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart (seen together here at the 2010 premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”). Their courtship was breathlessly covered by both the media and online fans. The romance, however, wouldn’t last forever. (Matt Sayles / AP)
“Water for Elephants” marked one of Pattinson’s first successful departures from his pack of wolves and vampires.

“Twilight” mania grew by courting fans at events such as the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, where Pattinson, center, joined Stewart and Lautner on a “Breaking Dawn” panel. (Kirk McKoy / Los Angeles Times)

Pattinson has several high-profile films in the can, including Werner Herzog’s “Queen of the Desert” and Anton Corbijn’s “Life.”
