‘The Walking Dead’: New episodes bring the fight to the prison

“The Walking Dead” returns for the second half of its third season on Feb. 10, and based on the just-released trailer it looks like the Governor is going to bring the fight back to the prison.

When we last left the two bands of survivors, Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) prison group had just made a daring raid on the town of Woodbury, run by the Governor (David Morrissey). They managed to rescue two of their own, Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan), but left Daryl (Norman Reedus) behind. Captured by the Governor, he was about to fight his brother, Merle (Michael Rooker) in the middle of a circle of zombies.

The Governor, meanwhile, lost his eye and his zombified daughter, thanks to Michonne (Danai Gurira). And now he’s out for revenge.

While the first two seasons have been mainly about interpersonal squabbles played out against the larger struggle of man vs. zombie, it looks like the second half of season three is going to be all-out war between the the prison gang (which just added some new faces) and the people of Woodbury.

There will be lots of gunplay, stabbing and more than a little zombie munching. So, basically, business as usual.
