It has pretty much been radio silence from the Band of Outsiders folks since the rumor mill first started churning back on May 26 with a fashionista.com report that the beloved bicoastal brand had laid off staff and that Fall 2015 orders to retailers had been canceled, with founder Scott Sternberg’s sole public comment, to WWD that same day, that he’d been advised not to comment.

A note posted to the brand’s Instagram feed shortly before noon on Monday -- and bearing Sternberg’s name at the end -- both reiterates the “no comment” stance and appears to bid a fond farewell to fans of the brand. It reads:

“The proverbial Fat Lady sings, at least for me and my time here at Band. I can’t really comment on the future of the brand as that’s out of my hands at this point, but I do want to say thanks to all of the Band fans out there who embraced and supported our brand and clothes over the years, and my employees and partners who dedicated so much energy and enthusiasm. The store should be open for at least another week so, like, go buy something cute. And enjoy it. That was the whole point of this thing after all.”

The post ends with a string of emojis (we could make out a two-fingered peace sign and a heart symbol among them), the name Scott and a link to Sternberg’s personal Instagram account.

We over here at All The Rage are throwing an emoji of our own back in Sternberg’s direction -- a pair of clasped Namaste hands wishing him all the best.
