Local upscale boutique Just One Eye got a wink and a nod -- and then some -- in the April issue of men’s style bible GQ, which has dubbed the Hollywood store one if its new “holy temples of menswear.”

Just One Eye, which inhabits a fortress-like Art Deco building once home to Howard Hughes’ business and movie-making empire, opened its brick-and-mortar doors in January 2012 (though it started as a purely e-commerce venture in November 2011) and is the brainchild of co-founder Paola Russo (previously the fashion director at Maxfield). We profiled the hybrid luxury boutique/art gallery in the inaugural issue of the Image magazine in March 2013.

Even though men’s fashion represents only a fraction of the offerings (30% at the time of our profile), JOE ranks as a serious menswear must-visit, the kind of place where tweed double-breasted jackets by Christophe Lemaire ($915) and cashmere and leather dropcrotch sweatpants by Raif Adelberg and $58,000 skull-emblazoned Corum wristwatches fight for your attention against a backdrop of Marilyn Minter photographs, Murakami sculptures and Damien Hirst dot paintings.

If you’re the kind of guy who’s got the April issue sitting on the nightstand, you can find the JOE blurb at the top right of Page 166, where it clocks in at No. 46 on the 2014 GQ 100 (“A hundred things every man should know about how to be stylishly not-naked now”), just behind the Nike X Riccardo Tisci sneaker collaboration.

If you’re not that kind of guy (or don’t share a nightstand with that kind of guy), it’s the annual “Style Bible” issue on newsstands now -- the one with one of three well-dressed fellows on the front: Pharrell Williams, Kit Harington or Liam Neeson.
