Is the NSJ Crew’s ‘Khaki Pants’ the next viral video dance?

If there’s anything that can make khaki cool -- and possibly inspire the next viral video dance craze along the way -- it’s the NSJ Crew’s “Khaki Pants,” a humorous riff on the plight of the school uniform that’s currently making the media rounds.

After catching a snippet of it on “The Today Show” on Friday morning, I checked put the whole video (it’s been posted to Youtube) and found it to be both a hilarious lament on wardrobe sameness and lesson in individual expression (rapped by what looks like a classroom full of tweens).

The song begins: “Yo, stuck in this polo shirt and khaki pants / up in this school doing the khaki dance ...” and the catchy tune just gets more fun from there. In my estimation, it might just possibly be the best thing to happen to the humble khaki since casual Friday.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if the video -- or at least the song -- eventually found its way into an advertising campaign by a clothing brand trying to capitalize on a new kind of khaki cool.
