King Juan Carlos of Spain handed over the monarchy to his son on Thursday in a low-key “proclamation ceremony,” followed by a procession through Madrid and an appearance by the new King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia and their two daughters on a balcony at the royal palace and a reception. The new queen wore a cream dress and coat ensemble by one of her favorite Spanish designers, Felipe Varela. [People]
