Halloween treats for kids and dogs to be at Malibu Country Mart

Malibu County Mart is gearing up for its Halloween incarnation as the Maliboooo Country Mart. Participating stores – visitors will know which ones by the Halloween balloon displayed outside –will offer treats for trick-or-treaters on Halloween, Oct 31. There will be a costume contest for children and pets at 6 p.m. at the Jester fountain (first place in the kids’ competition wins a $100 gift certificate to Toys R Us, with $50 certificates from Toy Crazy or Kolletti Bambini going to the second and third place finishers. The winning pooch will receive a treat, too.)

Anyone dressed in a costume is eligible for a free dessert with the purchase of a meal at Tra di Noi. Kolletti Bambini will offer balloon animals and face-painting and Beauty Collection is sponsoring a costume photo contest.

The event is planned for 4 to 7 p.m. at the Malibu Country Mart, 3835 Cross Creek Road, Malibu.

Events

This Thursday, Friday and Saturday the Americana at Brand will display more than 20 images from the Duncan Miller Gallery’s “American Icons” exhibit. By icons, we mean Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra, Muhammad Ali and their ilk. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m all three days on the green at the shopping complex, 889 Americana Way, Glendale.

Westfield Topanga and Neiman Marcus are hosting a fall fashion show on Saturday to celebrate the opening of Cusp, the department store’s new store-in-store that features fashion forward brands including Alice + Olivia, Rag & Bone, Vince, Alexander Wang and Theory, among others. Hosts are Merle Ginsberg, senior writer at the Hollywood Reporter, and Lisa Rodman, public relations manager for Neiman Marcus. The show is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Canyon at Westfield Topanga, 6600 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park.

Free People is having a one-day pop-up shop featuring its Vintage Loves collection from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Free People location at 1520 Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood.

Sassy City Chicks returns to L.A. for an evening of shopping, spa treatments, food and drinks from 5 to 10 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Petersen Automotive Museum, 6060 Willshire Blvd., Los Angeles. Top clothing and accessory brands, including Free People, BCBG, BB Dakota and more, will be up to 80% off. Shoppers must be 21 or older. Tickets, available here, are $10 for general admission and $25 for a Sassy Tote ticket, which includes admission, a tote bag filled with swag, complimentary spa treatments and cocktail sampling.

Trunk shows

The Marigot Collection of cute women’s pajamas – they’ve been featured as one of Oprah’s “favorite things” to give for the holidays -- is planning a trunk show from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Bardot, 2043 Westcliff Drive, Newport Beach. Items will be priced 25% off.

The SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills is hosting a Halloween-themed DL&Co.; trunk show from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Bazaar. DL&Co.; specializes in gothic homewares, such as candles shaped like poison apples or skulls. The hotel is at 465 S. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles.

Openings

Blo Blow Dry Bar is opening a Porter Ranch location on Saturday. The new styling-only salon, specializing in blow outs priced at $35, is at 19727 Rinaldi St. Call (818) 488-9530 for an appointment.
