You’ll see five ‘spectacular’ homes on this year’s Long Beach Great Homes Tour
Case Study architect Edward Killingsworth has long been admired in Long Beach, where he designed City Hall, the main library, the Long Beach Convention Center and the Performing Arts Center and Cal State Long Beach’s Student Union.
On Sunday, June 5, the nonprofit preservation group Long Beach Heritage will offer docent-led tours of two homes designed by Killingsworth: A 1958 Midcentury Modern post-and-beam home on a bluff with ocean views, and a 1961 English Regency home near Virginia Country Club. It’s part of the annual self-driven Great Homes Tour.
“Edward Killingsworth made quite an architectural contribution to Long Beach,” said Mary Kay Nottage, executive director of Long Beach Heritage. “This is a great opportunity to study his work, as well as view all five of the spectacular homes we’ve curated for this year’s Great Home Tour.”
The tour will highlight five architecturally significant homes in all, including a 1940 bungalow in Bixby Knolls and a pair of homes built on the Rivo Alto Canal in Naples.
