Too hot to shop? Beat the heat at one of these local night markets

Share

“It’s too hot!” you may have heard as soaring temperatures have left us listless and confined to air-conditioned quarters.

Too hot to shop? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered:

The Silverlake Flea Market, held on the playground of Micheltorena Elementary School in Silver Lake, has moved to Saturdays from 5 to 10 p.m.

The night market is similar to daytime flea markets in Pasadena and West Hollywood in that you will find booths filled with home goods, apothecary items, plants, candles, used vinyl and vintage clothing. Only this one will be smaller and more manageable. And cooler. There will also be revolving food trucks every week and if that’s not your thing, there are restaurants a block away in either direction. And did we mention that DJ Daiana Feuer will be spinning an eclectic Flea Vibe mix? It’s Silver Lake, after all.

Meanwhile, in Pasadena, the Jackalope Summer Nights market returns to Central Park on Aug. 3 and 4 with more than 200 vendors. The semi-annual event focuses on handmade artisanal goods including art, ceramics, fashion and accessories. In addition, there will be a wide variety of food booths and trucks, including Kogi and Belly Bombz Kitchen, along with a beer garden sponsored by Rounds Premium Burgers. Leashed pets are welcome.
