Migrants in Macedonia

Syrian refugees travel over fields, hills and highways on their way toward Macedonia from Greece.

Hundreds of worn-out Syrians, Afghans and others make the trek from neighboring Greece to a train station in Gevgelija, a Macedonian border town that has become a major stopping point on the migrant trail as multitudes head for a new life in Europe.

Mohammed Rantisi, a Syrian-born Palestinian, carries his son Adam toward the Macedonian border. Mohammed and his family are headed to Denmark, where his ailing mother lives.
