A South Korean passenger jet with 182 people aboard crashed as it was about to land at Tripoli airport in Libya, the official Libyan news agency JANA reported. JANA, monitored in Nicosia, Cyprus, said there were more than 80 survivors and that rescue operations were under way. It said the DC-10 was on a scheduled flight from Seoul, South Korea, to Tripoli. Most of the passengers were Koreans. The plane hit two houses and smashed through cars beside the airport before ending up near one of the runways. JANA said four people were killed in one of the houses but the pilot survived.
