Special to the Los Angeles Times

OVERVIEW

This is Lincoln’s new flagship luxury sedan. It comes with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Lincoln claims class-leading space for both passengers and baggage, with emphasis on a pleasurable cabin. New-tech toys include the Ford/Microsoft Sync system that allows voice activation of cellphones and audio functions, and a THX II-approved 5.1 surround-sound music system.

Also featured is Ford’s EasyFuel capless fuel fill system and keyless entry that uses an ingenious “invisible” keypad set into the B-pillar. The interior (described as sculpted rather than pieced together) sports a dual-panel moon roof with an integrated sunshade. A rear screen sunshade can retract automatically when the car is put into reverse. Materials include reclaimed wood, real metal and chromium-free leather (chrome is often used in the tanning process).

OUR TAKE

Trying to keep up with Lexus is a tough gig. At least the engine won an award as one of 2007’s 10 best. Should be a common sight curbside at LAX. Take us to the Mondrian, James.
