Readers React: Give Bernie Sanders his due

To the editor: Your article says, “There is no doubting that Clinton was the night’s big winner.” That is only partly true. (“After debate, talk of Biden cools,” News Analysis, Oct. 15)

The mainstream media parrot this claim, but on social media, in focus groups and on the Internet, Sanders did significantly better. This will translate to more followers and more donations for him.

It is true that Clinton regained her footing and is almost certainly the “inevitable” nominee.

But Sanders also “won” the debate by driving Clinton and the Democrats, kicking and screaming, to begin to challenge the billionaire class, the political system and the media.
