Brian C. Kokes Named Los Angeles Times Director, National Advertising

LOS ANGELES, March 24, 2005 – Brian C. Kokes has been named director, national advertising at the Los Angeles Times. He will be responsible for all aspects of national advertising planning and sales, reporting to Todd Brownrout, senior vice president, advertising at The Times.

Kokes has been a senior advertising executive for more than 16 years with extensive experience in sales and marketing in the newspaper industry. Most recently, he was national advertising director at the San Francisco Chronicle since 2003. He joined the newspaper in 2000 as national advertising manager.

“I am delighted to have Brian join the Los Angeles Times advertising team,” said Brownrout. “I am convinced that both our customers and national advertising staff will enjoy working with him.”

Kokes began his career in newspaper advertising sales in 1989 at The Sacramento Bee as account manager. In 1993, he joined The Fresno Bee and rose through the ranks from local retail territory manager to major national accounts sales manager. In 1998, he was named major accounts sales manager at the Contra Costa Newspapers and was promoted to retail advertising manager at the Contra Costa Newspapers in 1999.

Kokes earned a B.S. degree in history and journalism from the University of Oregon.
