Los Angeles Times celebrates the fifth anniversary of The Envelope Directors Roundtable by presenting the event for the first time in front of a live audience. Held today at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, Times writer John Horn will be joined by J.C. Chandor ("All Is Lost"), Paul Greengrass ("Captain Phillips"), John Lee Hancock ("Saving Mr. Banks"), Nicole Holofcener ("Enough Said"), Spike Jonze ("Her") and Steve McQueen ("12 Years a Slave") for a candid and revealing discussion about their admired films and the upcoming awards season.

"The Envelope is Hollywood's hometown news source and we're delighted that 2013's most talked-about directors will join us for a compelling, behind-the-scenes chat," said The Envelope Editor Elena Howe. "Opening up what's been a private event to include tomorrow's filmmakers is an exciting new twist that all involved are really looking forward to."

Complete video, as well as highlights from the event, will debut in late December at latimes.com/theenvelope and be accompanied by exclusive feature stories and photos. Title sponsor and official broadcaster EPIX will also air clips and the full discussion on their television channel, on demand, digital platforms and mobile apps. The premium network will also produce a related special next year prior to the Oscar ceremony.

Beyond the Directors Roundtable, The Envelope hosts an ever-expanding portfolio of high-profile industry events. The Envelope Screening Series showcases award contenders for Academy and guild voters, alongside illuminating Q&A's with their casts and filmmakers. New this year, The Envelope Independent Screening Series features breakout indie, documentary and foreign films. The first ever Actors Roundtable brought together awards contenders Harrison Ford, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Emma Thompson and Forest Whitaker, coverage of which will publish on December 19th. In addition, the annual Animation Roundtable spotlights the medium's most innovative works, with 2013's featuring Jennifer Lee ("Frozen"), Dan Scanlon ("Monsters U"), Chris Renaud ("Despicable Me 2"), Chris Sanders ("The Croods") and Chris Wedge ("Epic").
