Show Spotlight: Cadillac ELR

Share

Cadillac’s plug-in hybrid ELR is at once a sporty, luxurious classic coupe and an utterly of-its-time “green” ride. Most daily commutes in this compact, head-turning two-door will require zero gas and produce zero emissions.

And even longer trips avoid range anxiety thanks to new Extended Range Electric Vehicle technology that allows for a full driving range (in excess of 300 miles) comparable to many conventionally powered cars. EREV features exclusive Regen on Demand mode, engaged via steering-wheel paddles, which allows the driver to temporarily regenerate energy from the car’s momentum into electricity that can be battery-stored for later use.

On top of being a timely technological marvel, the ELR is a serious looker, with an aggressive, forward-leaning stance. It’s also a blast behind the wheel, with a driver-selectable sport mode that automatically reconfigures accelerator pedal response to provide quicker torque application through altered suspension and steering settings.
