Underground water pipes in Los Angeles have suffered significantly more ‘major blowouts’ in recent months, most notably the Sept. 5 failure in Studio City of one of the largest in the city. The Times has mapped more than 30 breaks since Sept. 1 that have affected customers, caused street closures and flooding, required significant street repairs or generated media attention.
