Authorities said a 17-year-old high school student was killed Friday and another was injured after four people fell from a cliff in Eaton Canyon.

Emergency responders were called about 11:30 a.m. to a cliff not far from an entrance to the Altadena park, where four people had fallen to the rocky base below.

Another hiker was airlifted to a hospital.

Two others who were on the hike and also fell were uninjured, said Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson.

“When you go up to this Eaton Canyon, be careful,” he said. “We get lots of incidents up there. It’s just a lot of hikers; a lot of them fall.”

KTLA News later identified the victim as Esther Suen, a senior at Mark Keppel High School. The others were apparently classmates.
