Officers serve search warrants in LAX luggage-theft probe
Law enforcement authorities on Wednesday night were serving search warrants and apprehending suspects as part of a months-long investigation into luggage and cargo thefts at Los Angeles International Airport.
Airport police and other officers swooped down on a cargo facility building near Imperial Highway and Aviation Boulevard by the southeast side of LAX, according to a source familiar with the operation. Television news footage showed officers at the facility, where luggage is handled.
Officers also were serving search warrants in Paramount and at a home in the 8800 block of Hooper Street in the incorporated Florence-Firestone neighborhood adjacent to South Los Angeles, according to the source.
No other details were immediately available.
