3-year-old boy drowns during Fourth of July party

A 3-year-old boy drowned after he fell into a pool during a Fourth of July party in Palmdale, authorities said.

The boy and his mother were attending a party in the 37700 block of 50th Street East, where a celebration was underway Monday night, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department

When the party moved to the front of the home for fireworks festivities, the mother noticed her son was missing.

She searched for him and found him the backyard pool, deputies said.

The mother pulled her son from the water and began rendering aid until paramedics arrived and took him to an area hospital.

The boy was later pronounced dead.

Deputies don’t know how long the boy was in the water before he found.
