Seven people were injured Tuesday evening when an SUV bounced off a concrete road barrier and plowed head-on into a Metro bus in Winnetka, authorities said.
The 30-year-old SUV driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, Metro spokesman Paul Gonzalez said at the scene.
Both drivers and five bus passengers were taken to a hospital with non-critical injuries. They are listed in stable condition, Gonzalez said.
The crash occurred at 8:41 p.m. on Vanowen Street at Mason Avenue. The concrete barrier was in the middle of Vanowen Street, which is under construction, Gonzalez said.
The SUV, traveling east, struck the rail and bounced into the westbound lane, where it collided with the Metro bus.
