Canoga Park High School locked down after gunman runs onto campus
A Los Angeles police SWAT team responded to Canoga Park High School on Thursday after an officer spotted a man with a gun on campus, department officials said.
The school was placed on immediate lockdown around 9:25 a.m. as officers from the LAPD and Los Angeles Unified School District police searched in and around the campus for the gunman, said LAPD Officer Christopher No.
According to reports from the scene, No said, a young man or juvenile was walking down the street with a gun and then bolted onto the campus after being confronted by a school police officer.
Before running onto the campus, the youth dropped the weapon, which was recovered by investigators.
Dozens of officers responded the scene. School police searched the campus at 6850 Topanga Canyon Blvd. while the LAPD set up a blocks-wide perimeter to scour the neighborhood.
There were no reports of injuries.
