Rain, speed were factors in fatal Santa Ana crash, police say
Police say rain and excessive speed contributed to a deadly crash in Santa Ana early Thursday morning that killed one person and sent four others to the hospital.
The crash occurred about 1:10 a.m. in the 900 block of North Fairview Street when a car carrying four adults and one juvenile smashed into a light pole, said Santa Ana police Sgt. Gerry Serano.

One of the adults, who was in the back seat, died at the scene. The four other people in the car were sent to hospitals with injuries described as not life-threatening.
The crash was still being investigated.
