Families were reunited for a few minutes at the “Door of Hope,” part of the border fence separating the U.S. and Mexico at Border Field State Park, November 18, 2017. The event, “Opening The Door of Hope” was organized by the Border Angels and the Border Patrol.

He then moved to Southern California and the Whittier Daily News, and Orange Coast Daily Pilot before joining the U-T in 1986.
