There are many things the world doesn’t know about the tragic episode that has left Lamar Odom in a Las Vegas hospital fighting for his life.

And, now the best source of information, his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, who like the rest of her family built her celebrity on being everywhere all the time, has announced she will go dark.

In a posting on her Web page, Kardashian says she has decided to put her social media presence on hold and will not post anything on her multitude of platforms while she deals with the health needs of the former NBA star, rushed to a hospital after he was found unresponsive in a legal brothel in Crystal, Nev., on Tuesday. The rest of the clan, including Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner, have released the identical statement on their websites.

“As a family, we’ve decided to hold off on publishing content across our apps while we continue to support and pray for Lamar,” the family statement reads. “Thank you for your kindness and understanding during this difficult time.”

The statement was preceded by a brief introduction: “To our fans a note from Khloe. xoxo.”

Khloe Kardashian, whose divorce from Odom is not final, has been making medical decisions about his treatment, a person with knowledge of the situation told the Los Angeles Times. She has reportedly been at her husband’s hospital bedside as the former Laker and reality television star is being treated after ingesting what officials said was a deadly mix of alcohol, cocaine and herbal sexual stimulants.

The hospital has refused to discuss Odom’s condition, creating a void that has been quickly filled by tabloid journalists from every medium inhabited by the Kardashians. Reports have varied from Odom being on life support to having kidney dialysis. The Rev. Jesse Jackson told reporters on Wednesday that he had seen Odom who was intubated.

According to Dennis Hof, owner of the Love Ranch Vegas brothel, Odom appeared to have taken too much “herbal Viagra.” “I was told he was not looking good,” Hof said earlier this week of two of his employees who were with Odom.

Witnesses who called 911 told dispatchers that Odom had also been using cocaine as early as Saturday, when he checked in. He also drank from a bottle of cognac he had ordered over the weekend.

Law enforcement officials have sent blood samples to be analyzed.

Odom began his NBA career in 1999 with the Clippers before going on to help the Lakers win NBA championships in 2009 and 2010. Last year, he was waived by the New York Knicks as a free agent.

In 2009, Odom married Kardashian and became a regular presence on the family’s reality TV shows.

Kris Jenner, the guiding light of the clan, was among relatives, friends and former teammates who have rushed to Las Vegas to be at the hospital.
