DETROIT An ex-con who is prohibited from ever carrying a gun is back behind bars after posting a questionable photo of himself on Facebook: He was pointing two handguns at the camera.

The man posted the in-your-face photo on Facebook just 12 days after getting out of prison for a felony gun crime, according to federal court documents. Two weeks later, the same man took to his Facebook page again, that time changing his profile picture to one of him sitting on a couch, holding two handguns.

The FBI has identified the man as Denzel Biggs, 20, of Detroit, who appeared Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Detroit on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm. A detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday to determine if he should be released on bond, or held pending the outcome of the case.

According to a criminal complaint filed in federal court, Biggs was arrested on August 20 after a Detroit police gang unit saw him crossing the street with a man who appeared to have a bulge in his waistband. It turned out to be a semi-automatic pistol, records show.

Police arrested both men. Biggs was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for possession of a stolen car. The other man, Darrius Oden, was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

Both men were taken to jail. There, records show, Biggs made a phone call to an unidentified woman, telling her that his friend “got caught with my gun.” A criminal history check revealed that Biggs had two felony convictions; one in 2012 for carrying a concealed weapon; another in 2013 for felony firearm. He did two years in state prison.

But after getting out of prison on July 9, Biggs took to Facebook. Based on the photos and Biggs’ alleged jail phone conversation, the FBI says there’s probable cause that Biggs committed the crime of felon in possession.

Biggs was behind bars and unavailable for comment.
