Raids are a waste
Re “Pot dispensary raids put tactics in question,” Column, Aug. 2
The Drug Enforcement Administration’s raids on medical marijuana dispensaries in states that have legalized their operation are nothing more than political symbolism.
The agency must have bigger fish to fry than small businesses that distribute marijuana to a small segment of the population in an orderly fashion. If anything, these dispensaries take business away from drug-dealing gangs that use violence to settle their disputes.
The raids might be legal, but one has to question why, in states where voters put legalization laws on the books, the federal government must step in.
