NASA plans for Orion to orbit Earth twice during the test flight, swinging out to a point that is 3,600 miles high, then splash down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Baja California, Mexico. In coming decades, Orion is expected to carry astronauts deep into space to the moon, asteroids, Mars and beyond.
