The Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach, which has a longstanding tradition of honoring outgoing mayors with a luncheon, plans to fete Laguna Beach Councilman Bob Whalen on Feb. 12.

Whalen, who was first elected to the council in 2012, finished his one-year term as mayor in December. Prior to serving on the council, he was a planning commissioner and served 10 years on the school board and as president of the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach and Laguna Beach Little League.

The Woman’s Club, in a release, noted that Whalen has a history of “ending up in leadership roles, leaving the organizations in better shape than when he joined them.”
