Artistic bowls will raise funds to fight hunger

Share

Bids are being accepted for the eighth World Hunger Bowl, whose proceeds from purchased artist bowls help the hungry and poor of Laguna Beach through the nonprofit group Changing Souls.

Unlike previous years, which had bidders come to a physical location to buy the bowls, this year something new is in store: online bidding.

Going online, said World Hunger Bowl founder Faye Chapman, will “give people from all around the world the chance to bid on these amazing bowls.”

Potential buyers can visit worldhungerbowl.org now through 8 p.m. Nov. 16 to place bids.

About 50 bowls are for sale this year, made by artists from as close as Woodbridge High School in Irvine to as far away as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Peru, Chapman said.

Faye said she particularly likes the bowls made by Wyland and Michael Bryan, who made a bowl depicting a woman on a coconut tree.

Previous World Hunger Bowls have raised between $10,000 and $18,000.
