NJB Breakers finish strong

The Laguna Beach seventh- and fifth-grade National Junior Basketball All-Net boys’ teams completed their respective seasons at the NJB All-Net Championship Tournament at The Map Sports Facility in Garden Grove.

The seventh-grade team went 3-2 in its division of the tournament. Among the victories for the Breakers was a 53-49 win over a strong Villa Park team that went on to a second-place finish. The Breakers played composed, and gave a great defensive effort that was led by Will Compton and Arthur Rounaghi and used some timely free-throw shooting by the entire squad in this close game.

The Laguna Beach seventh-grade All-Net team is Will Compton, Gavin Trevino, Matt Berk, Nolan Naess, Willie Rounaghi, Arthur Rounaghi, Jack Payne, Ryan Anthony and Paxton Burzell.

The fifth-grade team also played five games and earned a third-place standing at the tournament. The Breakers went into the postseason fresh from a first-place finish in the regular-season standings, and showed excellent improvement, both individually and within team play.

The Laguna Beach fifth-grade All-Net team is Griffin Naess, Oliver Rounaghi, Boden Gillette, Taylor Towe, Luke Meisberger, Ben Reimers, Ben Neufeld, Noah Liao, Devon Connelly and Mason Herr.
