Youth Scene: Rotary gets hot

Rotary came back from spring break on a three-game winning streak in Laguna Beach Little League Intermediate Division play.

That streak includes victories over VFW (5-4), Hobie (12-3) and the Rancho Niguel Angels (5-0), and put Rotary at 8-3. Jack Payne has led the way with outstanding pitching and has hit two home runs in the three games. The Hobie lineup, from top to bottom, has contributed with hits and nice defensive plays in a complete-team effort.

The key play in the 5-0 win over the Rancho Niguel Angels was a bases-loaded double-play executed on a great catch in center field by Carter Johnson. Johnson sent a relay throw to Jett Hamil at second base, and Hamil threw to catcher Brandon Lindsay who tagged a Angels runner attempting to score on a tag-up play from third base.

Chase Hall and Griffin Naess have completed pitching duties in the three wins.
