Laguna All-Stars’ season ends

The Laguna Beach Little League 8/9 All-Star team was eliminated from the Little League District 55 All-Star Tournament after a loss July 7 at Las Lomas Park in Irvine.

Laguna had its title hopes end in a 12-2 loss to Aliso Viejo.

Maxwell Reimers gave a strong pitching performance but fielding mistakes hurt Laguna’s chances against a solid Aliso Viejo team that advanced to the division semifinals with the win.

Laguna opened the tournament June 29 and lost, 12-6, to Lake Forest. The All-Stars bounced back in their next outing to down another Lake Forest team, 18-12, in a July 5 elimination game.

“It was a great learning experience for a lot of young ballplayers and gives them all something to reach for next season,” Laguna Manager Stu Jones said.
