Five arrested in apparent gang-related shooting, police say

Five Huntington Beach men who are suspected of injuring four people in an apparent gang-related shooting were arrested, authorities said.

Michael Flores, 23; Salvador Tecuanapa, 22; Eric Valentin, 20; Arnaldo Malaca, 24; and Miguel Flores, 47, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Michael Flores, Tecuanapa, Valentin and Malaca are being held in Orange County Jail on $1 million bail. Miguel Flores is also being held in Orange County Jail but for $500,000 bail, according to the Huntington Beach police.

On Dec. 13 at about 10:46 a.m., Huntington Beach police responded to the 17000 block of Keelson Lane regarding a call of shots fired in the area.

Officers found four injured people in the area and they were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Two of the victims were treated and released with minor injuries while the other two remained in the hospital in stable condition, police said. No arrests were made at the time.

After investigating the case for several weeks, Huntington Beach detectives obtained search warrants for multiple locations and served them on Monday.

With help from special agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and agents with Homeland Security Investigations, officials arrested the five suspects. Authorities also seized 10 firearms and a number of controlled substances, police said.
