A downed power line left about 2,700 homes in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach without power Tuesday afternoon, according to Southern California Edison.

The outages began at 12:53 p.m. when a trash truck snagged a communication line in the area of Edinger Avenue and Bushard Street in Fountain Valley, causing the wires to come down, said Susan Cox, spokesperson for Southern California Edison.

The Fountain Valley Police Department said in a Facebook post that the intersections of Warner Avenue and Bushard Street; Magnolia Street and Heil Avenue; and Heil Avenue and Bushard Street were affected.
