The Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach is looking to give its customers a taste of the suite life.

The Hilton property, owned by Irvine-based Robert Mayer Corp., completed a $140-million financing deal Feb. 29 to secure a 3.5-acre lot next to the hotel to build a nine-story, suite-only tower, according to a news release from the law firm Smiley Wang-Ekvall, which represented the Mayer Corp. in the negotiations.

The tower will contain 151 suites, a ballroom, meeting rooms, a restaurant, a spa and a pool deck and outdoor event space, according to the statement.

“As a family-operated business, the Mayer Corp. takes great pride in its legacy in Orange County and in building properties that serve as exceptional tourism destinations and economic drivers for the local economy,” Mayer Corp. Chairman Robert Mayer Jr. said in the news release.

“The expansion of the Waterfront Beach Resort will enable us to enhance our services and accommodations, and expand our contribution to tourism in Surf City.”

The expansion will complement the 290-room Waterfront Beach Resort, which is at Huntington Street and Pacific Coast Highway, next to the site of the Pasea Hotel and Spa, one of three components to the Pacific City project. The hotel, which is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2016, will have 250 rooms, a Balinese-inspired spa, a rooftop deck and 10 meeting rooms.
